CONGENITAL CATARACTS: Nature Cover Mock-Up
Back when I was training I had the opportunity to produce a self-directed scientific illustration assignment. I wanted to develop my design and layout skills, so set a brief to design a cover illustration for a piece of medical research that had just been published online for the journal 'Nature' at the time.
The study reports the results of a newly developed treatment for congenital cataracts using endogenous stem cells. I decided to take pretty conceptual approach to design a cover that would be impactful, without having to show too much detail of the procedure itself, which is carried out on infants.
Here is a collection of the final images along with supporting work and process.
